Michael Riley is a music director and conductor from London. His work spans music theatre, classical, orchestral and pop and he feels privielged to work with prominent artists, musicians and organisations from around the world. He is Associate Music Supervisor for the Olivier Award-winning Regents Park production of Jesus Christ Superstar on tour internationally; Music Director for Come Alive! The Greatest Showman Spectacular in London; and Associate Conductor for numerous West End and touring musicals including My Neighbour Totoro (Gillian Lynne Theatre) and The Rocky Horror Show (Tour).

Michael has previously conducted musicals in London's West End, on tour and internationally. As Music Director, musicals include: Andrew Lloyd Webber's School of Rock, Jesus Christ Superstar, The Bodyguard, An Officer and a Gentleman, Nativity! The Musical, Kiss Me, Kate, The Last Five Years & Legally Blonde. Michael has also worked on The Great Gatsby (West End), My Neighbour Totoro (West End & Barbican), Your Lie in April (West End), Jersey Boys (West End), Guys & Dolls (Bridge Theatre), The Wild Party (The Other Palace), Grease (Curve), The Sound of Music (Tour), The Commitments (Tour), The Rocky Horror Show (Tour) & Hairspray (International). ​

Michael has conducted many of Europe's leading orchestras including the Royal Scottish National Orchestra, BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, Leipziger Symphonie Orchester, National Orchestra of Hungary Szeged, Prague Philharmonia and Scottish Opera among others, specialising in film scores, cross-genre and popular music. Michael regularly conducts recording sessions for TV and film, working closely with leading composers, orchestrators and music supervisors.

Michael studied conducting at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland under the tutelage of Martyn Brabbins (English National Opera), receiving additional coaching from distinguished conductors Colin Metters, Jonathon Heyward, Ryan Wigglesworth and Stuart Stratford. He originally studied classical piano, receiving a first-class BMus (Hons) degree from Trinity College of Music in London. ​

In late 2025 Michael is set to release his debut album as conductor with Stravinsky's famous 1918 music drama L'Histoire du Soldat (The Soldier's Tale).
